Robotics Simulation Engineer (m/f/x)

Schubert-Motion is a young development office in Dresden, near the Technical University. Gerhard Schubert GmbH is the market leader in modular, robot-based packaging machines. We are integrated into the company as an independent department and work closely with our colleagues from Crailsheim on the development of new technologies and their implementation.

We are responsible for developing sophisticated software solutions at the edge of technical feasibility in the field of robotics and robot control, predictive maintenance as well as simulation.

Our machine learning backed software stack calculates optimal robot motions within a few milliseconds. This unlocks hidden performance of more than 1,000 robots shipped each year from company headquarters in Crailsheim. What is particularly exciting is the high level of development and manufacturing depth at Gerhard Schubert GmbH, from electronic components/sensors and mechanics to software and machine learning.

For this we are looking for your support!

Your tasks with us

  • Setup and validation of detailed robot simulations (dynamics, mechanical components and drives)
  • Evaluation of robot mechanics in the application context, support of the development and design teams with simulation results
  • Integration of robot models into an existing software framework
  • Setup and execution of Real-world tests in the field of robotics and predictive maintenance
  • Mathematical dynamics modeling as differential equations
  • Supporting motion planning/ optimization
  • Modelling aspects like: Determination of component-wise stiffness, model reduction and sensitivity analysis
  • Adaptation of new technology and tools for the team
  • Support for colleagues working on machine learning and predictive maintenance

Your qualifications

  • Degree in computer mechatronics / electrical engineering / mechanical engineering or comparable
  • Enthusiasm for robotics and optimization
  • Profound knowledge in Matlab and Matlab/Simulink and ideally knowledge in object-oriented modeling (e.g. Simscape / Modelica / ...)
  • Experience in modeling eletromechanical systems and model validation
  • Basic Knowledge of software development with C++ in a professional environment
  • Basic experience in the DevOps environment and testing frameworks
  • Basic experience in the DevOps environment and testing frameworks
  • A results-oriented approach, enthusiasm, and a high level of communication and teamwork skills
