Donations put a smile back on children's faces

Andrea Shane Handayan can laugh again. The little girl with the brown googly eyes had her cleft lip and palate operated on in a complex operation. Thanks to Schubert Packaging Systems GmbH. The company not only provided Andrea, but also four other children suffering from this condition, with an operation and thus gave them a new lease on life.

Johannes Schubert and Olaf Horrenberger, Managing Directors at Schubert Packaging Systems (left and right) and Heiko Burkhardt, Consultant at Schubert-Consulting, put a smile on their own faces at the happy news.

And this is how it came about: "We have been supporting social projects for years. At the 2019 Christmas party, we donated to the "Sonnenschein" children's and youth hospice in Stuttgart and the association "HELP! We help!" association from Michelfeld (Schwäbisch Hall district)," says Olaf Horrenberger, Managing Director at Schubert Packaging Systems. A total of 1500 euros was collected by the employees, and the management doubled this amount to 3000 euros. "Family has a high priority in our company. It is important to us to do something good, especially for the little ones", explains Olaf Horrenberger.

1500 euros were donated to the "Sonnenschein" children's and youth hospice in Stuttgart, which helps and accompanies families with seriously ill children. The other half went to the association "HELP! We help!" association from Michelfeld (Schwäbisch Hall district). The association mainly supports medical treatment in poor regions of the world and uses the donations to finance cleft operations for children, for example.

During the Corona pandemic, many hospitals had hardly any capacity to help people with cleft lip and palate. Since the situation has eased again, the doctors in the partner hospitals are resuming operations. Not only Andrea is happy about this, but all the employees at Schubert Packaging Systems who donate together for a good cause every year.
