Your Responsibilities
- Develop, extend, and validate kinematic and dynamic robot models, particularly for serial and hybrid 6+ axis robot kinematics.
- Model and analyze robot-specific characteristics such as gears, joint stiffness, elasticities, friction, and mechanical limits.
- Apply methods for parameterization and identification of robot models, with a focus on fast and straightforward implementation in projects.
- Develop new functionalities for 6+ axis robots, for example configuration switching and optimal workspace utilization.
- Support the planning and implementation of PLC control integrations for the Motion Library, as well as the collection and evaluation of validation data both internally and at customer sites.
- Analyze new robotics concepts and translate the latest scientific findings and state-of-the-art technologies into industrially applicable solutions, in collaboration with software development, mechanical engineering, and application engineering teams in Dresden and Crailsheim.
What You Bring
- A university degree in robotics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, control engineering, or a comparable discipline.
- Strong knowledge of robot modeling, robot dynamics, and robot identification, gained for example through industrial development work or a PhD.
- Very good understanding of serial robot kinematics, particularly 6+ axis industrial robots, including their configurations, singularities, and workspaces.
- Good understanding of the physical properties of real robot mechanisms, such as stiffness, elasticity, gear systems, friction, and control.
- Good programming skills in Python, experience with C++, and familiarity with professional software development practices, including version control, testing, and CI/CD.
- Ideally, experience with ROS or ROS 2, robotics libraries, and PLC systems such as TwinCAT, Automation Studio, or ctrlX, as well as simulation environments such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, or Gazebo. You also work independently and in a results-oriented manner, have strong teamwork and communication skills, and possess good English language skills.
