Double the pleasure in double packs

At the Anuga FoodTec, the Schubert Flowmodul packs the “Corner Yogurt – mini” range into flowpacks

At the Anuga FoodTec, the Schubert Flowmodul packs the “Corner Yogurt – mini” range into flowpacks

When the international food and beverage industry meets at the Anuga FoodTec in Cologne from 20 to 23 March 2018, Gerhard Schubert GmbH will be presenting a TLM system for packaging yogurt cups in flowpacks (Hall 8, Stand D080/ E089). For this purpose, the system is equipped with the Flowmodul flow-wrapping component, which is seamlessly integrated into the machine. The 3D scanner, also from Schubert, ensures the quality of the packaged products on the line.

Gerhard Schubert GmbH from Crailsheim has many years of experience in the packaging of dairy products and counts a large number of well-known producers among its customers. The Alois Müller dairy plant also uses the TLM technology for the secondary packaging of its products, such as the “Corner Yogurt” range. The machine presented at the Anuga FoodTec packs the “Corner Yogurt – mini” for children in multipacks. The dual-chamber cups are brought together in pairs in a flowpack.

The machine processes the products at an optimum speed of 60 cycles per minute. This ensures that the yogurt does not adhere to the foil lid– which would be the case with higher cycle rates. A 3D scanner installed on the line ensures that yogurt cups with damaged or missing lids are not picked up. Furthermore, the 3D scanner ensures the correct orientation of the yogurt cups in the flowpack.

Maximum performance and flexibility when packaging in flowpacks

Equipped with five pick-&-place-robots, which place 300 products per minute into the Flowmodul feed chain, the machine achieves an output of 150 flowpacks per minute. Different packing layouts can be achieved thanks to the fully automatic changing of the flights used for feeding the cups, together with the fully scalable robots. Following delivery to the customer, the machine will also process the product, for instance, in 2, 3 or 6 packs. The ability to package multipacks in different combinations gives the customer additional flexibility. The TLM system fulfills high standards in terms of hygiene and quality assurance during the packaging process. This allows the stainless steel cassettes and stainless steel flights to be easily cleaned under high pressure.

Next generation Flowmodul

The second-generation Flowmodul enables simplified accessibility for maintenance and cleaning. The ergonomically designed film roll suspension also ensures convenient machine operation for technicians and machine operators. Uniform control, user friendliness, highly flexible robot loading and the fact that Schubert offers the entire machine concept from a single source are also key benefits the customer will capitalise on with this solution. With the Flowmodul, small batch sizes, short product lifecycles and a high product variety can be handled more efficiently than ever before.

Gerhard Schubert GmbH at the Fachpack 2024 trade fair in Nuremberg

With the new EU Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) along with increasing demands for climate protection across the board, the packaging industry will have more than enough to discuss at this year’s Fachpack.‘Transition in Packaging’ is the event’s fitting motto from 24 to 26 September 2024 in Nuremberg. Visitors to the fair will have an opportunity to find out about the full range of sustainable, cost-effective solutions that Schubert, the packaging machine manufacturer from Crailsheim, has developed for consumer goods manufacturers at Stand 244 in Hall 1. As an example for the new ‘Power Compact’ machine concept – high output in the smallest space with lean yet high-quality technology – a bar packer with a single-lane erector and feeding via the Comfort Feeder will be in operation at the stand. The Schubert experts will also be demonstrating how further sustainability potential through the interaction between packaging and machine technology can be harnessed.

Schubert at Automation UK 2024

Last year, Automation UK took place for the first time in Coventry, England. As a result of its resounding success, the trade fair for automation and robotics is now entering its second round – and will be taking place this year on 18 and 19 June. Schubert UK Ltd will, of course, be participating once again. Schubert’s UK sales location was not only an exhibitor last year, but it is also a co-founder of Automation UK. In the CBS Arena at Stand F10, the British team, led by Mark Stepney, will be providing information on the Germany-based company’s latest highly flexible, efficient, and resource-saving solutions for packaging products of all kinds and from all sectors. This year, visitors to the Schubert stand will have an opportunity to view a tog.519 cobot live and in action. At Automation UK, the mobile robot will be demonstrating how it can pick & place unsorted products at speeds of up to 90 cycles per minute using the AI-supported vision system.
