Schubert pursues successful growth strategy in North America

Schubert will be attending the ProFood Tech exhibition in Chicago between March 26 and 28, 2019, for the first time ever. Over the past 50 years, Schubert has achieved worldwide acclaim as an innovator and market leader in the development of advanced TLM packaging machines and technologies. The company, with its global headquarters in Crailsheim, Germany, and North American headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, offers its diverse customers ideally suited packaging and automation solutions addressing a comprehensive spectrum of requirements ranging from simple to even the most challenging.

At this year’s ProFood Tech fair, Schubert will be presenting its growing portfolio of products and services. On the one hand, the company customizes high-end packaging machines to handle complex, sophisticated packaging requirements. And on the other, its recently introduced lightline series is ideal to take on most standard packaging applications. “Customers now have the choice between freely configurable machines with extensive degrees of freedom, which are tailored to individual customer requirements, and our cost-attractive preconfigured machines from the new lightline series with defined product and packaging formats,” affirms Hartmut Siegel, Chief Executive Officer of Schubert North America.

At the fair, Schubert will be showcasing its state-of-the-art automation packaging technology. A machine frame equipped with a four-axis pick & place robot will assemble 3D printed miniature Schubert machine frames. The machine embodies Schubert’s proven commitment to quality as reflected in high availability, outstanding reliability, secure production and comprehensive service.

Gerhard Schubert GmbH has years of experience in packing dairy products and its customers include a large number of well-known producers.

Intelligent technology meets short delivery times and attractive costs

Schubert’s new lightline series consists of three machine types with which customers can master standardized packaging tasks with great efficiency and high quality at very attractive purchase costs. A key benefit is that the machines are ready for use within a very short time. The new lightline Cartonpacker takes on the role of a classic case packer when erecting, filling and closing cartons. The lightline Pickerline is a powerful pick & place line for picking up and placing products in trays. The lightline Flowpacker packs products in flowpacks in conjunction with the Pickerline. And all three are delivered with the outstanding quality Schubert has become known for around the world.

Flexibility and service at the heart of Schubert’s North American strategy

North America has evolved into the most important growth market for Schubert in recent years. And since 1998, the company has been expanding its presence across the continent. Rapid changes in market requirements and consumer preferences, declining availability of labor and increasing minimum wages, all represent significant challenges for North American food manufacturers. This is resulting in a strong demand for flexibility in product packaging. As a global market leader in top-loading packaging machinery, Schubert is ideally positioned to provide high-quality solutions that deliver outstanding flexibility and efficiency.

By establishing its North American headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, Schubert has sent a clear signal to its existing and potential customers in the United States and Canada. With its service center in Dallas, Texas, and its sales and service office in Toronto, Canada, Schubert is expanding its customer proximity and support across the continent. This support encompasses high-level accessibility, preventive service as well as extensive training for customers.
Customers in North America also greatly benefit from the current expansion of the machine manufacturer’s training center in Charlotte, where two training machines are used for hands-on operator training. The training sessions at Schubert North America’s facilities ensure that customers can count on reliable and smooth operation with their TLM system.

With its TLM technology, Schubert provides future-proof packaging machine solutions that are easy to operate and flexible in terms of future upgrades and format conversion. The TLM packaging machines package products of all types and from all sectors – from dairy, food, confectionery, bakery, beverage, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics to technical products – in trays, cartons, boxes and flowpacks.

Gerhard Schubert GmbH at the Fachpack 2024 trade fair in Nuremberg

With the new EU Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) along with increasing demands for climate protection across the board, the packaging industry will have more than enough to discuss at this year’s Fachpack.‘Transition in Packaging’ is the event’s fitting motto from 24 to 26 September 2024 in Nuremberg. Visitors to the fair will have an opportunity to find out about the full range of sustainable, cost-effective solutions that Schubert, the packaging machine manufacturer from Crailsheim, has developed for consumer goods manufacturers at Stand 244 in Hall 1. As an example for the new ‘Power Compact’ machine concept – high output in the smallest space with lean yet high-quality technology – a bar packer with a single-lane erector and feeding via the Comfort Feeder will be in operation at the stand. The Schubert experts will also be demonstrating how further sustainability potential through the interaction between packaging and machine technology can be harnessed.

Schubert at Automation UK 2024

Last year, Automation UK took place for the first time in Coventry, England. As a result of its resounding success, the trade fair for automation and robotics is now entering its second round – and will be taking place this year on 18 and 19 June. Schubert UK Ltd will, of course, be participating once again. Schubert’s UK sales location was not only an exhibitor last year, but it is also a co-founder of Automation UK. In the CBS Arena at Stand F10, the British team, led by Mark Stepney, will be providing information on the Germany-based company’s latest highly flexible, efficient, and resource-saving solutions for packaging products of all kinds and from all sectors. This year, visitors to the Schubert stand will have an opportunity to view a tog.519 cobot live and in action. At Automation UK, the mobile robot will be demonstrating how it can pick & place unsorted products at speeds of up to 90 cycles per minute using the AI-supported vision system.
