North American debut of Schubert’s new case packer attracts a high number of spectators at Pack Expo 2021 in Las Vegas

After two years, Schubert North America, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, returned to Pack Expo International in Las Vegas, one of the largest international trade shows for packaging and processing technologies. The company, which is part of the Schubert Group based in Crailsheim, Germany, successfully premiered its new case packer, the lightline Carton Packer.

Schubert North America experienced three successful days at the Pack Expo International 2021 show in Las Vegas, September 27th – September 29th. “The Pack Expo Las Vegas is an important platform for Schubert North America to introduce newest developments to the US market, especially to manufacturers in the western states”, explains Hartmut Siegel, CEO at Schubert North America. The event’s organizer the PMMI, its exhibitors and attendees showed how despite the Covid-19 pandemic, in person events can be performed safely and successfully. The show was well visited by manufacturers with specific projects on their mind, leading to first signed proposals during the show.

The sales and service teams of Schubert’s North American subsidiary showcased the company’s most recent innovations not yet presented live and in person to the public. A highlight was Schubert’s debut of its new case packer, the lightline Cartonpacker in North America. With the lightline Cartonpacker, manufacturers benefit from a cost-effective case packer to quickly automate their packaging processes with the most efficient technology on the market. With Schubert’s lightline solutions, a large part of the configuration is built in. Drawing on the accumulated expertise from countless case packers built, Schubert has preconfigured a packaging machine which can effortlessly implement the most common process steps in case packing. This provides manufacturers with a highly affordable automation solution for specific product and packaging formats.

The exhibited lightline cartonpacker is part of a modular Schubert TLM system for the US manufacturer Hudsonville Ice Cream in Michigian. Hudsonville Ice Cream co-manufactures the famous frozen Greek yogurt bars for the brand Yasso. The case packer will be installed together with four cartoners and one more case packer on site until the end of 2021.

„As a contract manufacturer flexibility in manufacturing is key to success. Future products and formats change frequently as consumer preferences keep altering. While producing for other brands as well as manufacturing our own branded products, flexible end of line systems, such as our new Schubert packaging machines, ensure competitive advantage.“ emphasizes John St. Aubin, Operations Leader at Hudsonville Ice Cream, „it’s great to see part of our machine system exhibited at Pack Expo and how it attracts other manufacturers – this confirms once again that opting for Schubert was the right choice“.

Schubert is well-known in the US and Canada especially to large manufacturers for its modular flexible single source solutions that seamlessly combine pick and place, flow-wrapping cartoning and other technologies in one system. By premiering its new case packer, the company showed, that manufacturers can not only benefit from Schubert systems when upgrading, expanding or improving automation processes but also that Schubert is the right partner for any manufacturer who is new to automation.

Outstanding service and on-time delivery during the pandemic

Expert consulting and excellent local service secured Schubert North America’s sales growth over the last year in spite of COVID-19. Quick commissioning thanks to the preconfigured systems as well as the high degree of digitalization during machine handovers to customers played a major role. The attendance times of Schubert technicians and other service personnel at customer premises were, of course, reduced to a Corona regulation-compliant minimum. In spite of the unique circumstances, Schubert North America was able to meet all delivery deadlines with its customers at all times, so that they themselves were flexible enough to be able to deliver to their own customers on time. The North American service team demonstrated live at the show the benefits of Schubert’s unique control system, the VMS, and how customer focused training programs provide full transparency and access.
