Highly flexible machines for future-proof packaging processes

Global market leader and innovation driver Gerhard Schubert GmbH will be presenting its flexible, robot-based, top-loading packaging technology (TLM) at the international ProPak China trade fair in Shanghai from 23 to 25 June 2021. The modular machines pack food, confectionery, beverages, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and pet food extremely efficiently into a wide variety of packaging materials – including cartons, boxes, trays, flowpacks and bottles. Thanks to sophisticated robotics and intelligent control, Schubert machines can process both conventional and sustainable packaging.

Thanks to advanced robotics and intelligent control, Schubert machines can switch from conventional to sustainable packaging.

Packaging machine manufacturer Schubert has been present and active in the Shanghai region with a sales and service subsidiary for three years and is now presenting its automation solutions at the ProPak show for the second time. With its innovative TLM packaging technology, Schubert relies on a combination of modular system components, state-of-the-art robotics, reduced mechanical parts and intelligent control technology. The manufacturer develops and builds almost all machine parts itself in view of optimising them to the specific requirements of the packaging industry. This philosophy results in extraordinarily flexible, efficient and reliable machine processes that are ideally adapted to the future requirements of a sustainable packaging industry.

With Schubert as a partner, recyclable packaging and sustainable processes can be implemented along the entire supply chain in a future-proof manner.

A broad portfolio with innovative technology

The manufacturer’s broad portfolio includes systems ranging from case packers, pick and place machines and flow-wrapping machines, all the way through to customised and extremely sophisticated packaging lines. Tools individually manufactured for each application, including 3D printing, ensure gentle and reliable product handling and fast format changes. The PARTBOX part streaming platform allows customers to print 3D tools themselves at their own production sites. An image processing system developed by Schubert enables comprehensive quality control of the products before packaging. With the GRIPS.world digital customer platform, the packaging machines also offer all important functions and data for monitoring, performance optimisation and documentation at a glance.

Since 2018, Schubert has been present for customers in China with a sales and service office in the greater Shanghai area (Maggie Ma (Office Manager), Ping Meng (Technical Director) and Gavin Liu (Sales Director), from left).

Future-proof through sustainable packaging solutions

With Schubert as a partner, companies are also future-proofing themselves to meet market requirements in the area of sustainability. Thanks to the machines’ flexible modular system and highly versatile robot technology, both conventional packaging materials such as plastic trays or composite films as well as modern sustainable packaging made of cardboard or recyclable flowpack films can be processed. The machines can even switch between both packaging materials within the same line. Moreover, Schubert supports its customers with its own packaging development team and the Schubert-Consulting division: The consulting experts provide comprehensive consulting services along the entire supply chain for efficient and sustainable packaging processes.

Gerhard Schubert GmbH at the Fachpack 2024 trade fair in Nuremberg

With the new EU Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) along with increasing demands for climate protection across the board, the packaging industry will have more than enough to discuss at this year’s Fachpack.‘Transition in Packaging’ is the event’s fitting motto from 24 to 26 September 2024 in Nuremberg. Visitors to the fair will have an opportunity to find out about the full range of sustainable, cost-effective solutions that Schubert, the packaging machine manufacturer from Crailsheim, has developed for consumer goods manufacturers at Stand 244 in Hall 1. As an example for the new ‘Power Compact’ machine concept – high output in the smallest space with lean yet high-quality technology – a bar packer with a single-lane erector and feeding via the Comfort Feeder will be in operation at the stand. The Schubert experts will also be demonstrating how further sustainability potential through the interaction between packaging and machine technology can be harnessed.

Schubert at Automation UK 2024

Last year, Automation UK took place for the first time in Coventry, England. As a result of its resounding success, the trade fair for automation and robotics is now entering its second round – and will be taking place this year on 18 and 19 June. Schubert UK Ltd will, of course, be participating once again. Schubert’s UK sales location was not only an exhibitor last year, but it is also a co-founder of Automation UK. In the CBS Arena at Stand F10, the British team, led by Mark Stepney, will be providing information on the Germany-based company’s latest highly flexible, efficient, and resource-saving solutions for packaging products of all kinds and from all sectors. This year, visitors to the Schubert stand will have an opportunity to view a tog.519 cobot live and in action. At Automation UK, the mobile robot will be demonstrating how it can pick & place unsorted products at speeds of up to 90 cycles per minute using the AI-supported vision system.
