Processes integrated without interfaces

Schubert-Pharma informed visitors to Pharmapack in Paris of its comprehensive range of packaging solutions and engineering services for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. At the heart of its offer is the ability to seamlessly integrate a wide variety of processes and functions, even with external systems, into Schubert’s top-loading machines. Labelling, quality control or serialisation tasks can be safely carried out by the packaging machine.

Whether it’s vials, ampoules, plasters, infusion bags, syringes, devices or multi-purpose products – Schubert-Pharma offers pharmaceutical companies a tailored solution for every single product. A wide range of packaging tasks can be efficiently implemented with the components in the modular systems offered by Schubert technology. Schubert-Pharma can draw on wide-ranging engineering expertise regarding integration of additional functions, such as a turntable for the infeed of vials, as well as fully integrating systems from third-party suppliers into the control concept of TLM systems. The main advantage for the operator is the simple operation of these functions as no additional user interfaces are required.

Optical quality control across the board – the finger flange is aligned before verification of variable data on every single syringe.

Full process integration

Options for integrating processes are extremely flexible. They range from simple functional additions, such as labelling systems, to complex data management systems (track-and-trace).

The tried and tested Schubert image recognition systems carry out the optical control functions and quality control tasks. This includes mix-up checks, verifying the presence and completeness of products, and shape control.

Integrated external systems, such as labellers to apply tamper-evident seals or camera systems to verify serial data, can be seamlessly integrated into Schubert’s own Track-and-Trace system.

With BFS products or blister packaging, deep-drawing, sealing, cutting and punching within the TLM systems take place in an automated process. Tray production and assembling of cartons for secondary and final packaging are also carried out without manual labour or removal of products from the line.

Measures such as the attachment of tamper-evident closures, dividers for transport safety, the exclusion of glass-to-glass contact within the packaging machine and gentle product handling all ensure a high degree of safety for users and patients alike.

The engineering office with the packaging experts

The experts at Schubert-Consulting are available at Pharmapack to customers for any further consultancy requirements. There are hardly any limits to the integration of Schubert’s own technologies as well as solutions from other suppliers when it comes to machine layout. As a result, each customer receives an overall concept that is tailored to their individual needs. The Schubert Packaging Systems business unit supports customers in the planning and implementation of various packaging processes, from theoretical planning through to implementation and production of a system that is ready for operation.

Gerhard Schubert GmbH at the Fachpack 2024 trade fair in Nuremberg

With the new EU Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) along with increasing demands for climate protection across the board, the packaging industry will have more than enough to discuss at this year’s Fachpack.‘Transition in Packaging’ is the event’s fitting motto from 24 to 26 September 2024 in Nuremberg. Visitors to the fair will have an opportunity to find out about the full range of sustainable, cost-effective solutions that Schubert, the packaging machine manufacturer from Crailsheim, has developed for consumer goods manufacturers at Stand 244 in Hall 1. As an example for the new ‘Power Compact’ machine concept – high output in the smallest space with lean yet high-quality technology – a bar packer with a single-lane erector and feeding via the Comfort Feeder will be in operation at the stand. The Schubert experts will also be demonstrating how further sustainability potential through the interaction between packaging and machine technology can be harnessed.

Schubert at Automation UK 2024

Last year, Automation UK took place for the first time in Coventry, England. As a result of its resounding success, the trade fair for automation and robotics is now entering its second round – and will be taking place this year on 18 and 19 June. Schubert UK Ltd will, of course, be participating once again. Schubert’s UK sales location was not only an exhibitor last year, but it is also a co-founder of Automation UK. In the CBS Arena at Stand F10, the British team, led by Mark Stepney, will be providing information on the Germany-based company’s latest highly flexible, efficient, and resource-saving solutions for packaging products of all kinds and from all sectors. This year, visitors to the Schubert stand will have an opportunity to view a tog.519 cobot live and in action. At Automation UK, the mobile robot will be demonstrating how it can pick & place unsorted products at speeds of up to 90 cycles per minute using the AI-supported vision system.
