Seven days, three product lines: Schubert reports very positive trade fair results

On 13 May, a truly exceptional global industry event came to a close: interpack attracted an estimated 127,000 visitors to Düsseldorf, and a great many of them to the Gerhard Schubert stand. The Crailsheim-based company takes a look back on seven days that were a resounding success in terms of strategy, sales and customer loyalty.

When it comes to interpack, the ‘Welcome home’ sign at the entrance to Messe Düsseldorf is by no means an overstatement. With so many visitors from five continents, it is fair to say that the packaging world calls the exhibition halls its home. Right at the heart of the action in the expansive Hall 14, Gerhard Schubert showcased much of what sets the company apart – both strategically and technologically – across 784 square metres of exhibition space. The stand, divided into three sections, reflected the portfolio structure which, with the TLM, LIGHTLINE and TOG lines, offers solutions to take on virtually any packaging challenge. Over the course of a week, the impressive exhibition stand offered plenty of space and fascination to welcome trade visitors from many different industries and continents.

On the first day of the fair, Schubert made use of its spacious exhibition area to review the past financial year and the company’s current position at a well-attended media briefing: Marcel Kiessling, Managing Director of Sales and Service, and Ralf Schubert, Managing Partner, vividly outlined how Schubert is successfully navigating challenging market conditions. Significant growth in the Group’s overall performance, a strong turnkey business and a steady stream of orders in core markets all point to a bright future for the machinery manufacturer.

Press and industry representatives eagerly anticipated the unveiling of the new TLM generation.

Structured for the future

The clearly structured portfolio undoubtedly played a key role in these achievements as demonstrated by Schubert in dedicated zones for TLM, LIGHTLINE and TOG technologies – with further details provided during a tour of the stand. “interpack 2026 served as an ideal starting point for us to present our product strategy to the greater public for the first time and set the course for the future,” says Marcel Kiessling, summarising the stand concept. The high visitor numbers on all days, productive discussions and successful order placements, including the acquisition of new customers, demonstrate that the approach was a resounding success across the board – and that flexible packaging solutions are in high demand.

On day one, visitors also had an opportunity to experience first-hand how Schubert is moving forward. Shortly before midday, the company unveiled nothing less than the eagerly anticipated new generation of its TLM technology. As the tarpaulin slid off the machine, the press and industry reps eagerly flashed their cameras and smartphones in rapid succession to capture the moment, recording the discreet matt-black system with its curved frame and lightning-fast pick & place robots for posterity. Interest in the new development remained high on the following days as well. Thanks to a new frame design, optimised robot path planning and control technology, the new TLM delivers even greater performance within the same footprint – and is expected to once again set new standards in packaging machinery engineering.

PPWR: A hot topic

Another equally important issue was PPWR. The EU regulation on the reduction of packaging waste, which will come into force in August, has been a concern for the industry for years. Questions regarding implementation, machine compatibility and material selection need to be addressed to ensure that packaging remains legally compliant in the EU beyond 2030. The need for guidance, discussion and solutions for more sustainable packaging was high – prompting dialogue between the team from Schubert’s Packaging Competence Center and trade visitors. With the PCC, Schubert is offering a platform that comprehensively addresses technical and regulatory packaging issues.

The PCC team was available to answer questions at its own exhibit area: “The EU regulation calls for close collaboration between many stakeholders, from packaging machine manufacturers to recyclers and material suppliers,” explains Michael Graf, Head of Schubert’s PCC. “Trade visitors were extremely interested in the contribution we can make as a machinery manufacturer. This highlights that the PCC plays a vital role as a liaison between packaging companies, the machinery sector and other industries.”

Shaping the industry for six decades

The company’s milestone anniversary also sparked lively discussion. Be it at the media briefing, on the information screens or in direct conversation, Schubert’s 60th anniversary was ever-present. The company’s current developments, its comprehensive portfolio, its global operations, and indeed many technologies in the field of end-of-line packaging would all be inconceivable without the trailblazing spirit that transformed a small business in Crailsheim into a leading manufacturer of packaging machinery. It is difficult to say exactly how many interpack trade fairs have taken place during this timeframe. There have certainly been quite a few – and, given the impressive results in 2026, this will certainly not be the last.
